Magic, magic everywhere!

My friend David says all he wants from life is a new day, a fresh start and some surprise magic in his life. Since he’s a warm fellow with a sharp eye, he often gets his wish. When he’s treated to a kindness, when he’s told of something nice someone said about him, he thinks, “Magic.”
My friend Elaine just started gardening. Six roses on her very first rose shrubs bloomed after winter set in; she wanders in and out of her cottage – to look at and smell the red roses near her door. To her, they are magic.
Nancy’s beau proposed to her; she is full of the magic of being loved.
Maya Lin, the young architect who designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC as a class project, submitted it to the largest design competition in American History. Her V-shaped wall of black stone, etched with the names of 58,000 dead soldiers, was chosen over 1, 420 other entrants. It is today the most visited memorial in Washington, D.C.
She says “Sometimes I think creativity is magic; it’s not a matter of finding an idea, but allowing the idea to find you.”
Music is magic; listen to it whenever you feel a need to renew your spirits. Take a photo and look at it later; your unique image on paper is magic. Write something even if you think you have no talent for writing. If the birds didn’t sing until they were all on pitch, we’d have silent forests. Read your writing a few days later; you’ll be stunned at what you wrote; your words will seem like magic.
The late Roald Dahl, the author of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “James and the Giant Peach,” said “ . . . watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”

Today, I’ll take the time to hold onto the desire to feel, smell, see and hear the world’s magic. It’s been created especially for me.
